One of my handcrafted unique wooden ornaments! These ornaments involve the art of pyrography, aka wood burning, and mixed media to make something that is rustic, timeless, and just nerdy enough. Hang it in your favorite space, pop it on a holiday tree, or use it as a paperweight! The choice is yours.
Each of these items is individually crafted. If you order one of these ornmaments, they are made to order and may vary slightly from what you see on the site. This also means they can be customized!
Important Note:
All ornaments include an eye hook and twine (usually with a little extra) so you can adjust how your piece hangs when displayed. If you would like your item to NOT be predrilled and ready to hang because you'd like to use a different display method, please just let me know when you place your order.
Storm Ornament
Pyrography is a VERY slow process. It involves using special tools and heat to carefully burn the art into the wood. When doing this by hand, it takes time and patience to cover an area, and using too much or too little heat can ruin a piece entirely!
As the wood burns, it creates enough smoke that artisans often use a mask or make sure to have a fan blowing directly at them to avoid doing damage over long periods of time. The artform is one of precision and beauty. It is something I have come to respect deeply, and I incorporate other methods and materials to create further variety and pops of color.
The beauty of burning an image is the permanence. I also seal all of my pieces with an acrylic varnish to make sure they will last as long as you want them to. Any piece that has a raw edge (where there's bark) will require some extra care when being handled, but they look amazing when displayed!
